Hello all,
Just a reminder we have a Routing Working Group Meeting Tomorrow – 8am EST. If you do not have a calendar invite, please reach out to me.
The agenda for the February Routing Working Group Meeting:
"Using RIPE Atlas to spot routing issues”
Speakers:
Johan ter Beest jterbeest(a)ripe.net<mailto:jterbeest@ripe.net>
https://www.ripe.net/about-us/press-centre/publications/speakers/johan-ter-…
Michel Stam mstam(a)ripe.net<mailto:mstam@ripe.net>
Michel Stam is a senior software engineer for the RIPE NCC’s Research and Development department. His primary focus is developing the firmware for probes connected to the RIPE Atlas platform, using his knowledge of networking and embedded software. Michel started working at the RIPE NCC in 2020. Michel has been working as a software developer and infrastructure architect for over 20 years. Prior to joining the RIPE NCC, he was an architect for an offshore company, defining the infrastructure for research vessels. Michel has written software for several embedded devices and networked equipment and is listed as an inventor for two patents.
In this talk, we will share how to use RIPE Atlas platform for free to detect routing issues. We will present such uses cases as:
• Spotting symmetrical and asymmetrical routing
• Using the probe tags to help you get the most out of your measurement
• Strategies for finding IPv4 / IPv6 path differences
RIPE Atlas is open and free for everyone. You just need to have credits to run your own measurements. You can get the credits by becoming a host, ambassador, or sponsor of RIPE Atlas.
Pre-requisite: It would be handy if you have a RIPE NCC SSO account already. You can redeem this voucher code “ROUTING23” worth 200K credits at: https://atlas.ripe.net/user/credits/<https://nam12.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fatlas.rip…>
Thank you!

Apologies,
Correct link to the recording from the September meeting. The previous recording I sent out is for PeeringDB, also a good resource / talk.
The video may still be processing when you try to access, so feel free to download or wait until it finishes processing.

Hi Routing Working Group,
On Wednesday the 28th of September (2 weeks from now) Nathaniel Mendoza and I will be presenting on Routing Security and why it matters at the CENIC conference in California.
I realize this is last minute, however, if you are going to be at the CENIC meeting and have experience deploying it on your networks, I would appreciate if you could create a couple slides and spend maybe 5 minutes discussing the deployment.
Of course hanging around for questions as well.
Thanks!
Hans
Hello RWG!
Friendly reminder about the routing working group meeting tomorrow September 20th 8 am ET
Agenda:
* Routing Working Group Case update
* Microdep Presentation by Otto Wittner
Abstract : Microdep is a long running project (and a toolset) measuring the end-to-end availability of global connections on a fine grained level. Currently around 250 end-to-end connections are monitored by a combination of CBR probe traffic (100 packet per second)) and traceroute measurements. Monitor data are analysed for queuing, downtime and routing events (i.e. not only visualized). Correlations of events are
also detected which may again assist in revealing suboptimal routing configurations. Microdep is now in a process to be integrated with the perfSONAR tool suit.
If you did not receive a calendar invite please let me know.
