Hi Gustavo,
This all sounds good. I look forward to seeing you at TNC26.
Can you share the logistics for the June 3rd meeting?
thanks,
steve

Hello Steve,
Thank you for your message and for bringing this perspective to the discussion. We find the approach very interesting and promising.
From our side, we see a strong opportunity to develop different proof of concept GREN Map by integrating complementary layers, which could enrich the overall representation of the ecosystem:
* L1 (Physical): Aligned with the original GNA-G Map concept, representing the infrastructure. * L2/L3 (Logical / Service Layer): A more flexible representation of services and capabilities operating over the physical layer, potentially leveraging data aggregated from the RENs themselves (topology maps and shared data). * L3 (Routing / Topology Layer): Derived from routing information (e.g., BGP/AS-level views), where we see strong synergy with this Internet2 and CAIDA initiative.
We believe that combining these perspectives could provide a richer, multi-dimensional view of research and education networks.
As a next step, we would like to invite you to attend our demo at TNC26 on Thursday at 2:00 PM. Our session is titled "Building Smarter Networks". During the presentation, we will showcase a new visualization proposal that can apply these concepts and facilitate the mapping of these layers. It will be a great opportunity to discuss this in more detail in person.
We can then organize a follow-up session after TNC26 where you could present your work in depth, and we can jointly explore concrete collaboration opportunities, including the potential for a PoC.
Additionally, we would like to invite you to a GREN Map meeting on June 3rd to discuss a broader topic: how should we consistently represent the different types of networks and initiatives in our ecosystem?
Looking forward to continuing this conversation.
Best regards,

Greetings,
Internet2 and CAIDA are developing a tool to visualize the AS-level topology of the global R&E ecosystem. The tool currently uses pre-policy routing data from Internet2, and we hope to expand it to incorporate pre-policy data from additional R&E networks.
We would like to explore how this AS-level topology work might connect with the physical topology mapping being developed by the working group.
Brenna Meade and I will be presenting these tools at TNC26. We are also hosting the BoF “Coordinating BGP Policy and Tooling Across the Global R&E Infrastructure” on Thursday from 9:00–10:30 a.m.
For working group members attending TNC26, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss how these two efforts might complement one another. We would also like to arrange a time to demonstrate the tool to the working group and get your input.
Here are a few links that demonstrate how the tool depicts AS topology for different networks:
