Hello, Very interesting project indeed. They just shared in another list an update about the project and are also asking for collaborators that can share publicly available KMZ files with terrestrial routes.
- Site: https://www.networkatlas.org/
- Feature: Self service portal. Are you operator of a fibre network? you can simply put the KMZs and map will show. This should enable us to give you all an amazing ability to grow the map to become much bigger than any single person/company can manage.

Indeed, there does seem to be a fair bit of overlap between our projects. Shall I reach out to Mr. Akcin to see if they'd be open to harmonization of our efforts?

IMHO, I think so, it looks to be an “open” project and there may be some good synergies.

Hi Wallace
My first take on this map, looking at the S Atlantic, is that the divergence of this map's information content and that of Telegeography is extremely great. Look for instance at the WASACE, SAEX and BRICS cables, none of which has been built, to my knowledge, although SAEX was recently relaunched as SAEx1, scheduled for 2021.
Cheers, Michael

Hi Everyone,
This is an interesting initiative, and there are potentially some synergies with our work, but I think there are also quite a lot of differences. I’d therefore suggest that before we reach out, it would be best to discuss this as an agenda item in one of our meetings.
Best regards, Tom

Agreed, good thing to discuss. I thought it was interesting with it being an open project. Mehmet is a well known person in the space - him leading it gives it some credence in my book over if someone else was spearheading it.
Michael - I can see some real oddities here in the South Pacific as well like the Moana cable being installed in 2018 (spoiler alert - it does not exist). It does show as being down at least - so that's something...
It is very much an early beta so they may not have any validated data as of yet.
