Dear PC members
At our meeting yesterday we made good progress on the final major outstanding items. I will try to summarize what we agreed on below, so that we are all back in sync. I may call some of you out below, so please read it all
Submitted presentations - we have received a proposal from JISC for a panel session titled “Bridging Borders: Geopolitics, Collaboration, and the Evolving Role of NRENs”. After some discussion back and forth there was consensus among those present that this panel could be used to set the scene for the “Future of NRENs” panel and we therefore did some reshuffling of the sessions to make everything. Susanne will let you all know when the programme has been updated accordingly so that you can double check if we inadvertently have created some clashes. Panel on the future of NRENs - We have made good progress with the panelists. Gitte is fine with letting Martin join as DeiC rep. Jonny will talk to Pelle/Maria and Ingimar will contact Gudmundur. We agreed that the chair should not be associated with a Nordic NREN and we will ask Sabine Jaume if she is willing to take the job. Jonny takes the responsibility of coordinating chair, moderators and panelists. Jonny distributed to all of you the submitted proposal “Building lightweight digital-sovereign AI Chatbots for Higher Education: Connecting the dots of openness”. We think it is highly relevant and would like to include it in the programme. The immediate idea of having the presentation in the “How AI is changing education” is not viable as we consciously decided it was a 2 presentations session because the time needed. If Licia and Anne Sofie agree that they think it can work, we could put it into the “Data Demands” session, where we currently miss a presentation. It will then most likely require some tweaking of the title and session description.
In addition to that my walkthrough our session pages in portal indicates the following outstanding items (organized per session this time).
Quantum and Time & Frequency Nets Josva: Work with Inder on a speaker. If unsuccessful, consider dropping the additional speaker as we already have 4 people presenting
Enabling Access Licia: Get confirmation from Johan Sörmling that he is willing and able to present
Educational Interop Licia (and Vegard): Find speaker from a university alliance
! Data demands for sharing, re-use and training Licia and Anne Sofie: Consider the proposal for putting in the submitted presentation.
Sustainability Maria Isabel: Continue working on finding the final speaker
Digital Twins Bruno: Investigate alternatives to Alexander Krentsel. Talk to Josva about Stefan Schmid from Berlin, he may be an option
The Community we serve Jonny: Find speaker from SE Royal Lib
Stakeholder Mgmt Josva: Get proper confirmation from Jacob Steen
All the best, Josva
