We are excited to announce that the Women in IT Networking at SC (WINS) program is now accepting applications for the 2025 program. Since 2015, the WINS program has provided an immersive “hands-on” mentorship opportunity for early- to mid-career applicants in the IT field who are selected to participate in the ground-up construction of SCinet, one of the fastest and most advanced computer networks in the world<https://sc25.supercomputing.org/scinet/>, built annually for the Supercomputing Conference (SC) to be held in St Louis, Missouri in November, 2025.
The program collaborates with SCinet committee leadership to match each awardee with a SCinet team and a mentor; offers travel funding for awardees; and provides ongoing support and career development opportunities for the awardees before, during, and after the conference.
Interested and qualified applicants are encouraged to apply. WINS strives to have diverse representation of organizations and applicant backgrounds in the cohort each year. I have attached calendar invites for the recurring meetings scheduled for this year, 2025. One is for the 8 am EST time zone meeting and the other is for the 8pm EST time zone. Our meeting time will change monthly to accommodate as many of our international audience as we can.
This year, we will focus on continuing our efforts in BGP training, establishing common definitions, and discussing new cases.
We are always looking for new cases for the RWG. Additionally, we welcome members of the community who would like to give a tool talk or have ideas for useful discussions. Please continue to use Slack and the email list to share new cases or ask questions within the community.

This hands-on tutorial, organized by the University of South Carolina (USC), International Networks at Indiana University (IU), and the Engagement and Performance Operations Center (EPOC) will provide effective hands-on training on BGP, from concepts to real implementation, conducted in a safe, virtual environment. The tutorial will allow attendees to:
1. deploy internetworks composed of multiple ASs connected via BGP, running a production-grade BGP implementation;
2. manipulate BGP options and attributes without the fear of disruptions, thus enabling them to implement different policies;
3. acquire advanced BGP routing skills; and
4. familiarize with a platform that supports high-speed rates of 10 Gbps and above, using a real protocol stack implementation.
Attendees will be provided with detailed laboratory manuals and a training platform, accessible from the Internet using a regular web browser (no SSH, Telnet, or other requirements). Access to the training platform will be granted for six months. Other advanced topics will include MPLS and Multi-protocol BGP.

Good BGP route policy is essential for routing security and to ensure your network traffic is making the best use of your R&E network connectivity and peering.
This hands-on tutorial will cover creating a complete BGP routing policy for your network and best practices for configuring BGP. We will also look at useful tools for troubleshooting BGP routing issues.
