Greetings GREN Mappers,
As discussed, a meeting to kick off the resumption of activities of this group.
We will have another one, with more notice, and likely more content, Tuesday next week.

Greeting GREN Mappers,
With apologies, I recall that, back in August, we agreed to Sep 17 as the next meeting. However, it was poor planning on my part, as it turns out I am on vacation. Let’s please reconvene September 24, after I’m back; I have a fair bit to share with you all. I also suggest a meeting the following Tuesday (Oct. 1), as there is much to discuss to get this project rolling again. I will send Zoom and calendar invites when my technology facilitates me doing so, ie. when I’m back :-}
If there is anyone disappointed by this change, I apologize again. Also, I owe a couple of you some reply e-mails. I promise to catch up immediately upon my return.
Cheers,
Ryan
Greetings GREN Mappers,
Quick summer update meeting. This is a second meeting to capture anyone who wasn’t able to make it to the Aug 13 meeting.
We intend to resume routine pre-scheduled bi-weekly meetings in September, as things pick back up after the summer break.
Cheers,
Ryan

Greetings GREN Mappers,
Apologies for the late invitation to tomorrow’s meeting, as scheduled at our last meeting. Given this late invitation, and that I know a number of us are away with summer plans, I’d like to schedule a second mid-summer meeting next week, with the hopes that it will provide an additional opportunity to chime in with any updates.
We intend to resume routine pre-scheduled bi-weekly meetings in September, as things pick back up after the summer break.

Dear Everyone,
After a successful demo and discussions of the latest global interactive map efforts at TNC19, a meeting of the group was held on 2nd July, last week. You can access the meeting notes here<https://wiki.geant.org/download/attachments/108020502/MAP-19-001_Mapping-No…>. I also attach a copy for those that do not have access to the wiki.
If you do not have access to the wiki, please let me know so that I can arrange your access rights.
Our next meeting will be in August, as set out in the meeting notes. Ryan will send around a calendar invite with connection details.
May I also take this opportunity, for those taking holiday over the next few weeks, to wish you a very enjoyable break.
Best regards,
Tom

2. Following TNC, the first GNA-G meeting, and the GÉANT General Assembly, an update on the presentation, reception, and engagement.
3. FYI: Extending WG membership to new interested stakeholders.
4. Summer break? Continue regular operations? Somewhere in between?
5. Business arising.

Greetings GREN Mappers,
This message comes on the heels of TNC, the first GNA-G meeting, and the GÉANT General Assembly, all of which generated substantial interest in and feedback for this project!
Following our usual bi-weekly pattern, we would normally meet today. However, our recurring meeting series ended just before TNC, so no meeting was scheduled for today. Further, I am taking some much-needed time off this week after those two events, and it would be difficult for me to secure a solid WiFi connection in my current location.
That said, I would like to update this group with the technical progress on the NML-based data format we’ve been prototyping, the prototype visualisation we used to demo the format at TNC, and the Python library for parsing and writing the format. I’d also like to discuss our engagement and reception at TNC, GNA-G, and GÉANT GA, and ponder our next steps. Finally, I would like to take the pulse of the group to see whether there is appetite to break for the summer, or keep working through it at full speed, or somewhere in-between.
I propose a meeting next week, Tuesday July 2, at the usual time (12:00 UTC). If there are no objections, I will schedule that meeting and send the invitation tomorrow.
Cheers,
Ryan
We should talk to this group.

Subject: [Global Research Map] Global Research Map update v1.0.3
Hi All,
We are happy to announce that we have updated the Global Research Map to v1.0.3.
https://globalresearchmap.org/
This update brings the following features and improvements:
Map Statistics: The map now dynamically displays a count of networks, circuits and pop locations that are currently being shown on the map.
Search Bar: The map now has a search bar in the sidebar that could be used to search the networks and focus on a network by clicking on the search result.
Show/Hide All Layers buttons have now been moved from the sidebar on to the map as the map control buttons.
Map usability has been improved for mobile devices and tablets.
Link Preview: A link preview will now be shown when the map is shared on several platforms.
Overall design of the page has been improved following the principles of flat design.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Thanks,
Sreemukha Taduru (Sree)
