Subject: Upcoming GNA-G Community VCs
Hi all,
We’ve locked in the timeslots for the upcoming Community VCs, which will be focused on the
Working-Groups. These are intended to be an opportunity to discuss and throw in new
ideas, and to identify what’s going well and what needs work – so come prepared for a
chat!

GNA-G Community VCs Q1 “a” 2023
The first pair of VCs will take place next week, with updates from the Routing WG, the
Network Automation WG, and the GREN Map WG.
VC #1: Wednesday, 15 February 2023, 6am-8am UTC
Most suitable for participants from Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Africa, and Europe.
Registration Link:

VC #2: Wednesday, 15 February 2023, 8pm-10pm UTC
Most suitable for participants from North America, Latin America, Africa, and Europe.
Registration Link:

(Full details here:

Three new proposed WGs will also be introduced, with a call for participation:
* GREN Engineering Advancement – aimed at identifying how we can collaboratively agree
on and standardise ways to operate GREN links better (ANA, AER, etc)
* Subsea cable sensing and smart cables – a forum for technologies, deployment and its
implications, data gathering, security, and research engagement.
* GREN vulnerability risk review – we’ve recently seen outages due to sabotage. The
Global NREN CEO Forum has asked the GNA-G community to do a review of the GREN to review
its resilience to outages, whether accidental or malicious, and identify potential weak
spots which could benefit from additional redundancy or security.

GNA-G Community VCs Q1 “b” 2023
Two weeks later, Harvey Newman will be hosting a single VC with a deep dive into the
AutoGOLE/SENSE and Data Intensive Sciences WGs, with discussion around SC22 & SC23
activities.
Again, this is intended to be very much a working meeting, rather than a series of
presentations.

Subject: Welcome to 2023, and "hold the date"
Hi all,
On behalf of the Leadership Team, welcome to 2023! I hope that this coming year is
productive and fun for all of you.
At the last Community VCs, we pencilled in a pair of upcoming VCs for this week to be
focused on Working-Group updates. We’ve decided to push this back a month to give us a
bit more time to prepare. In order to have enough time for each Working-Group, we’re also
planning on running two pairs of VCs.
Please pencil in 15 February 6-8 am UTC and 8-10 pm UTC for the first pair of VCs. Event
page with registration links is at
https://www.gna-g.net/attend-a-meeting/gna-g-community-vcs-q1-2023/
The second pair will likely be on 28 February, however we’re still finalising the best
time-slots for this one.
Looking forward to seeing you then!
Regards,
David
