[AARNet Official] Hi everyone, Just a quick note to say “adieu” to you all. I’ve made the decision that after 15 years it’s the right time for me to move on from AARNet, and so will be stepping down from the GNA-G Leadership Team and leaving you in their capable hands.
I want to say a huge THANK YOU to you all, for contributing so deeply and collaboratively to the advancement of our global R&E network.
This type of collaboration is unique to the NREN world, and the friendships that I have developed with many of you over the years are incredibly precious. I’ll miss the crazy creative conversations and catchups in different corners of the world, and seeing your faces on Community VCs at all hours of the night!
Please continue to devote your energies to efforts like the GNA-G: it truly makes a difference, creating something valuable and unique.
Don’t hesitate to stay in touch, David

David,
I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your tremendous contributions to our global collaboration. GNA-G is a huge collective effort by a large number of people, but it takes the passion, energy, and vision of true leaders to make it work.
For many years now we have been fortunate to have your leadership to guide our collective effort. You have gone above and beyond what we have the right to expect. I am grateful for this, and I consider myself tremendously lucky to have had the opportunity to work with you.
I am sure that in the capable hands of the remaining members of the leadership team, GNA-G will continue to thrive, and I’m equally sure you will have great success with your next challenges.
Thanks, David!

Hi David, I’ve just concluded participation in the 2025 edition of the SuperComputer Conference. The testbed WAN pushed 13Tb/s off the show floor and into the world’s Research Networks. And I can’t think of the world’s research networks, without thinking of you.
Thank you for making an indelible imprint on how the world connects. Thank you for your international leadership that helped make science happen and networks interoperate more seamlessly than natural trajectories would have otherwise taken them. And thank you for including Ciena in countless explorations and conversations. And perhaps most importantly, thanks for your friendship which will endure as you enjoy your next moves. Keep in touch.
Fondest regards, Rod
