Greetings GREN Mappers,
First of all, a final reminder that the development priorities feedback deadline has been extended one last time. Please complete your organization’s column in the shared spreadsheet by this Monday, Feb 1. It shouldn’t take too long, and we’d like as much representative feedback as possible. The instructions are repeated below.
The minutes of the last meeting are posted:
https://wiki.geant.org/display/GlobalMap/Global+Interactive+Map?preview=/10…
The bulk of that meeting was spent discussing how the group can mobilize to meet the target of a “Version One Point Zero” release of the system ahead of TNC 2021 in June. This Working Group has done (and is doing) a great job steering the project on course, and CANARIE + RNP have been happy to develop what we’ve got so far, namely a working proof-of-concept prototype, some demos, and a solid momentum in the community. But to meet our next delivery goals this year, we will need to engage more support to carry us across that finish line. These goals are ambitious, but achievable, and I believe beneficial to the success of this project.
There are opportunities, large and small, for engagement in the following areas, for examples:
* Development (commitments of any size are welcomed — ask us!)
* Infrastructure: hosting map nodes for your REN or your neighbours
* Project management:
* guiding micro-projects, e.g.
* development stories or epics
* deployment infrastructure setup
* etc.
* overseeing, in macro terms, the whole push for “Version 1.0” TNC target release
* soliciting and co-ordinating REN data acquisition
* working group admin
* meeting organisation & minutes
* correspondence
* outreach & marketing: websites, videos, community presentations
If you believe you can arrange for your REN to contribute in any of these areas, or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact your humble working group chairs.
The agenda for Tuesday’s meeting will consist primarily of reviewing the dev priorities feedback, and discussing potential engagement as above. Also, I will propose that we set up a recurring meeting for every two weeks until June, for discussion.
Cheers,
Ryan

Instructions
As you are probably aware, software development on our GREN Map infrastructure is ongoing. We are aiming to produce a preliminary working system in mid-2021. As discussed at a previous meeting, we are soliciting WG members’ feedback to determine what features are required in order to consider this preliminary system full-featured enough for release.
We hope this will only take a few moments. Please see the online spreadsheet linked here; you should be able to edit it in your browser. Find the instructions for filling it out below, and in the first tab of the spreadsheet. Note that changes should be done through a browser, and are applied live.
Note that we encourage only one member per REN represented in the working group to fill out the sheet. For those of you with multiple representatives, please collaborate on your submissions as you see fit. We suggest that you may wish to solicit input from your marketing and technical teams.
Objective
The aim of this spreadsheet is to collect a list of features that need to be prioritised for the next phase of GREN map development. The results will be used as a guide to help plan the work for upcoming milestones. Initially we will use this spreadsheet to poll the GREN Mapping Working Group members regarding which new features should be included to constitute a version 1.0.0 that is deployable and can be demonstrated mid-2021.
Current project status
The GREN map is currently (as of Oct. 2020) at a sandbox milestone. The sandbox is intended to be an evaluation and feedback tool only. It will allow a user to install the system locally and enter their own data to see how it shows up on the map. The federated distribution system is only partially in place and there is no consolidation of data.
Instructions for use
We would like to receive one review from all organisations represented in the working group. As some organisations have multiple members, please coordinate with your colleagues to review the features and enter your consensus rating for each.
Please view the "Review Sheet" tab and consider each suggested feature. If you think we have missed a feature, please feel free to add to the bottom of the list for consideration.
Please feel free to use the "New Comment" feature in Excel (under the Review tab or right click on a cell) to add any opinions or questions regarding a feature.
To rank the features please read the feature description, find the column corresponding to your organisation and rate each feature using the following scale:
3 — This must be done for a workable version 1.0.0 milestone
2 — This would be nice for a future milestone / should be done at some point.
1 — No opinion
0 — The GREN Map should NOT do this
The results will be averaged across all reviewers. If a value of 0 is selected, it will be highlighted in red to bring it to attention of the Working Group as a whole. We will then discuss the features within the working group meetings.
Thank you for your participation and we look forward to seeing your ratings!

Hello GREN Mappers,
I hope that everyone has had a safe holiday season, and that 2021 has started well for all of you!
Please find below a proposed agenda for our upcoming meeting. Let me know if you have anything to add.
For the sake of #2, we encourage everyone to complete the priorities feedback spreadsheet ahead of the meeting. If you require more time to complete the feedback, we humbly suggest and request that you fill it out in draft form ahead of the meeting, and let me know approximately when you expect to submit a final version — this will at least give us more data points to discuss, and we can adjust final priorities ranking soon after.
Cheers,
Ryan
Jan 19 Proposed Agenda:
